I devoted myself to painting after many years as a graphic designer, mainly in San Francisco. During that time I also earned a California teaching credential and have enjoyed teaching painting at the college level, and through civic and recreational adult education, ever since.
After moving to Colorado I earned a Masters Degree in Painting at Adams State University and opened the PleinView Painting Studio in Alamosa where I live with my family, paint full time, and teach painting all year around.
Primarily an outdoor painter, I am a member of Plein Air Artists Colorado, Plein Air Painters New Mexico, a founding member of High Desert Painters (an international plein air group), member of the Spanish Peaks Arts Council, and founder of the San Luis Valley Painters.
I have worked with organizations in California, Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico and Arizona, serving as show judge as well as speaker on the topic of Marketing for the Individual Artist. My work is in collections in the U.S. and abroad and can be viewed in the galleries that represent me,
and online at ConiGrant.com or on Instagram at conigrant or #conigrant.
Using my design background, I combine Expressionist influences with innovative color ideas to express a distinctive view of the landscape and life around me.
My classes and workshops emphasize painting fundamentals with a focus on design skills and inventive color use - in both oil and acrylic.
